Job summary

CVS Health is seeking an Executive Director, AI Infrastructure & Platform Engineering to stand up and operate a frontier GPU compute platform in enterprise data centers. You will own hardware lifecycle, network fabric, GPU clusters, and the Kubernetes/OpenShift stack while building a high-performing 24/7 operations team.

This greenfield program requires setting standards, hiring talent, and delivering reliable, scalable infrastructure that enables HIPAA-compliant AI workloads across multi-site

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering leadership with data center scale hardware lifecycle
• Hands-on ownership of bare-metal Kubernetes/OpenShift
• Fluency with RoCE v2, InfiniBand, EVPN-VXLAN and related fabrics
• 5+ years leading multiple technical teams including 24/7 operations
• Proven ability to establish SLO/SLI and observability-driven improvement
• Hardware lifecycle, vendor accountability and facility coordination
• Experience leading operational transitions at scale with business continuity

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the long-range vision for AI infrastructure and platform engineering.
• Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing engineering organization.
• Establish ownership, accountability, and performance expectations across teams.
• Provide executive-level communication on platform status and strategy.
• Own the physical layer of the AI compute environment (GPU, storage, network).
• Direct bare-metal Kubernetes and OpenShift operations, including governance.
• Govern high-performance network fabric operations and congestion management.
• Maintain 24/7 operations with sustainable coverage and no mandatory overtime.
• Drive end-to-end observability and incident response across layers.
• Lead operational transitions and long-term operating model for CVS.
