Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Software Engineer for AI Infrastructure (Starshield) to design, operate, and scale the infrastructure that powers AI clusters and on‑prem Kubernetes/AI stacks in Top Secret data environments. You’ll collaborate with AI engineers to deliver scalable, maintainable software products and automate deployment across large GPU/CPU estates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems/IT, or an engineering discipline with 1+ years of SRE/DevOps experience; or 3+ years in SRE/DevOps in lieu of a degree.
• 1+ years of professional experience with Linux operating systems.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible) and containerization (Kubernetes).
• Development experience in Python, C++, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Manage GPU/CPU infrastructure deployments to Top Secret data centers.
• Provide support for GPU as a service on bare metal hardware and virtualized platforms.
• Design, validate, and productize AI clusters (100k+ GPU scale).
• Develop automation for on-premise Kubernetes/AI clusters and OS deployments.
• Deploy and manage databases, monitoring, and distributed storage.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to build scalable, operable products.
• Oversee full service lifecycle from design to refinement.
• Ensure high availability through monitoring and alerts.
• Identify improvement areas and implement innovative solutions.
