Job summary

Modal is seeking Forward Deployed Engineers to join our infrastructure-focused engineering team. You will partner with top AI companies to design and ship production-scale infrastructure on Modal's serverless platform, spanning cloud architecture, networking, storage, and containerization.

You will work hands-on with customers to explore architectures, run technical demos, and lead discovery sessions while collaborating with product and sales.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Expertise in distributed systems, data pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong communication and ability to discuss architecture with leadership.
• Willing to work in-person in New York City, San Francisco, or Stockholm.

Responsibilities

• Work with Suno, Lovable, Cognition, and Meta to architect and deploy large-scale production workloads.
• Lead technical discovery and architecture sessions with customers.
• Architect migration paths from AWS/GCP/Azure to Modal's serverless platform.
• Collaborate with product and sales as engineer and product stakeholder.
• Build trusted relationships with CTOs, VPs of Engineering, ML leads.
• Conduct demos, experiments, and proofs-of-concept to demonstrate infrastructure advantages.
