Job summary

VAST Data, Inc. seeks an experienced Network Engineer in Field Engineering to design reference architectures for data center deployments and to build the lab for qualification and interoperability testing of switches, NICs, and network OS. You will work with NVIDIA, Arista, Cisco, Juniper and other vendors to reproduce issues and drive fixes.

You will own complex fault reproduction, define RoCEv2 and QoS standards, and contribute to best practices that scale across customer deployments.

Qualifications

Strong data center networking fundamentals at CCNP level or equivalent hands-on experience.
Solid command of BGP and L3 routing, ECMP, and MS/route policies.
Hands-on design and troubleshooting of L2 and L3 data center networks.
Ability to troubleshoot across layers including routing, MTU, latency, and congestion.
Working knowledge of Linux networking and common diagnostic tools.
Experience using tcpdump, Wireshark, and iperf for real tests.
Preference for building a reproducible lab and documenting findings clearly.

Responsibilities

Design reference network architectures for deployments (L2/L3, EVPN/VXLAN, RoCEv2, QoS).
Build and run lab environments to validate switch qualification and interoperability.
Evaluate NICs and network OS from major vendors and certify compatibility.
Troubleshoot complex issues across the GPU-fabric-to-storage path.
Document findings and feed insights back to R&D for platform improvements.
