Job summary

Software Resources is actively seeking a Senior AI / Full Stack Software Engineer for a greenfield, contract role in Burbank, CA, onsite 4 days a week with remote Fridays. You'll build a text-to-SQL layer, a semantic data layer, and an AI pipeline, while supporting an existing Power BI environment and API gateways across a data warehouse ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience with Python and/or TypeScript/JavaScript, including server-side and API design.
• Strong SQL and data warehouse experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering, tool calling, structured outputs, and summarization.
• Experience with RAG architecture, embeddings, vector databases, and failure modes.
• Frontend experience with React/Next.js and charting/data-grid libraries.
• Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and document architecture decisions.
• Strong technical and functional documentation skills.
• Experience designing governed API layers across multiple systems.
• Strong UI/UX judgement for data-driven interfaces.
• CI/CD, testing, version control, and performance optimization.
• Proven dashboards development for monitoring business performance.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a text-to-SQL pipeline converting natural-language questions into permission-aware SQL queries.
• Create a semantic layer defining table relationships, meanings, and business terminology.
• Implement retrieval over schema documentation, business logic, and query examples to improve accuracy.
• Design multi-step agent workflows with clarifications, tool calls, and error recovery.
• Integrate LLM providers for query generation, orchestration, and result summarization.
• Build guardrails for query validation, cost limits, row limits, and access control.
• Develop evaluation processes for query accuracy and detection of unsupported outputs.
• Design and maintain an analytical UI for results, charts, and AI summaries.
• Support Power BI environment including data models, DAX measures, and calculated tables.
• Develop API gateways for governed data access across warehouse, Power BI, and AI app.
• Integrate portfolio reporting data with tools like Smartsheet, Jira, Clarity PPM, ServiceNow, SAP.
• Collaborate with data engineering to maintain clean warehouse schemas.
• Own architecture docs, APIs, data dictionaries, workflows, and user guides.
• Partner with Portfolio Management to define requirements and iterate on solutions.
• Design, build, and maintain dashboards tracking performance metrics and business value.
• Support planning, prioritization, stakeholder communication, and high-quality code delivery.
