Job summary

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) invites applications for a graduate intern position in Washington, DC. You will work with the ICS team to design and prototype AI tools that organize and analyze large government and public records, turning documents into practical data products.

You will contribute to retrieval-augmented generation, graph retrieval, AI-assisted data linking, and user-friendly interfaces for non-technical users, while ensuring privacy and governance considerations.

Qualifications

• Active graduate student (master’s or Ph.D.) in engineering-based field; graduation after Internship period.
• Fluency in English with working knowledge of another Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; experience with structured and unstructured data; familiarity with AI/ML applications and databases.

Responsibilities

• Design implementation blueprints for AI applications querying large data sources.
• Prototype RAG and graph-based retrieval pipelines over knowledge graphs.
• Develop AI agents and orchestrated workflows with guardrails and audits.
• Build pipelines to transform documents into structured databases and support entity resolution.
• Explore AI-assisted network analysis to reveal ownership chains and transaction paths.
