Job summary

The Hartford is accelerating toward AI-first engineering, and End User Services seeks a leader to drive that shift across the platforms our employees rely on every day. We are hiring an Assistant Vice President of Digital Workplace Engineering to steer the design, engineering, and reliability of collaboration platforms (Teams, voice, conferencing, messaging) and the digital workspace.

This role will operationalize Reliability Engineering, establish AI-first standards, and manage the organization

Qualifications

• AI-first engineering is the core expectation for the role.
• Deep familiarity with Microsoft 365 ecosystem and collaboration tools.
• Proven reliability engineering background with SLOs/SLIs and incident mgmt.
• Experience leading OKR-driven, multi-team engineering groups.
• Hands-on with automation, observability, and IaC tooling.

Responsibilities

• Set engineering and reliability strategy for collaboration and digital workspace.
• Own OKRs for collaboration, workspace, reliability, and AI-first initiatives.
• Operationalize Reliability Engineering across platforms with SLOs and run-ops alignment.
• Drive AI-first, automation-first SDLC and release pipelines.
• Build end-to-end observability and track digital employee experience metrics.
• Lead and grow a multi-director engineering organization.
• Collaborate with security, identity, networking, and infrastructure teams.
• Define and report KR progress to executive leadership.
