Job summary

Applied Systems is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to shape the architectural foundation of our Data and Analytics capabilities as we scale to enable insights and lay the groundwork for AI across the enterprise.

You will lead large-scale data architecture decisions, establish data governance standards, and mentor engineers while driving AI-enabled workflows and scalable data solutions across the organization.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in software/data engineering or architecture.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Expert knowledge of data architecture principles.

Responsibilities

• Define large-scale data architecture decisions for batch/streaming, warehouses, and lakehouses.
• Architect observability, alerting, and incident-response frameworks for data pipelines.
• Partner across teams to define data quality, lineage, access control, cataloging, and governance; establish SLAs/SLOs.
• Design data modeling standards across OLAP/warehouse, OLTP, streaming, and AI/vector use cases.
• Define patterns for embedding AI and agent-supported workflows across the data engineering lifecycle.
