Job summary

Cengage is seeking an AI Automation Engineer for Finance & Accounting to apply AI across AP, AR, reconciliation, and financial reporting workflows. You will partner with Controllers, FP&A, and Procurement to identify high-value automation opportunities, delivering audit-ready, control-compliant systems.

The role combines production AI development with deep financial fluency, ensuring compliant, scalable automations in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• 4+ years in finance automation, RPA, or related software development.
• Strong Python and SQL production experience.
• Hands-on with LLMs and document AI (OCR).
• Knowledge of accounting principles, GL structures, and close processes.
• Experience with major ERP platforms (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workday).
• Understanding SOX controls and audit evidence requirements.
• Excellent communication with Controllers, FP&A, and Internal Audit.

Responsibilities

• Automate AP/AR processing including invoice capture and approval.
• Build reconciliations across GL, bank, credit card, and intercompany accounts.
• Develop expense processing, policy checks, and anomaly detection.
• Create procurement automations for PO generation and vendor onboarding.
• Implement AI-powered financial close acceleration and journal entry automation.
• Ensure SOX compliance and audit documentation for automations.
• Provide ROI reporting with FP&A and stakeholders.
