Job summary

University of San Diego in San Diego, CA invites two Provost's Faculty Fellows in Artificial Intelligence to design strategies and implement initiatives aligning AI with USD's mission and values. Fellows will work with the Provost's team to foster responsible AI use in teaching, learning, and administration.

This tenure-based position starts November 15, 2026, with a renewable two-year term. Fellows maintain active research and teaching duties, with light summer commitments and a 3-unit course

Qualifications

• This recruitment is open to current University of San Diego tenured faculty only.
• This role requires clear familiarity with AI tools and techniques along with institutional judgment and trust.

Responsibilities

• Support the development of institutional guidance on the responsible use of AI in teaching, learning, and administrative practice, and collaborate with faculty, General Counsel, HR, and University Senate as appropriate.
• Collaborate with campus partners to organize speakers and support department- and unit-level conversations that advance campus-wide dialogue on AI.
• Support the assessment of enterprise AI tools and resources, and contribute to institutional reporting that tracks USD's progress on AI initiatives.
• Contribute to the design and administration of internal grant programs that support faculty and staff exploration of AI, and encourage faculty-student research partnerships to examine the implications of AI within their disciplines.
