Job summary

Cadence Design Systems in Livonia, MI, seeks an AI Engineer to build ETL/ELT pipelines and knowledge graphs over diverse product data. You will design semantic data models and expose typed interfaces for downstream consumption.

Requires strong Python, REST APIs, data pipelines, and familiarity with graph databases or ontology modeling. Experience with LangChain or similar agent frameworks is a plus; travel is not expected.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong Python programming and REST API experience.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines over structured and unstructured data.
• Familiarity with graph databases and ontology modeling (RDF/OWL/property graphs).
• Experience with at least one agent framework (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI).
• Understanding of how LLMs consume context and tools (retrieval, embeddings).
• Exposure to CAE/FEA/CFD or related engineering domain.
• Able to work in unfamiliar codebases; systems thinker.

Responsibilities

• Build ETL/ELT pipelines that extract data from source code, APIs, file formats, and documentation into a structured knowledge store.
• Design and maintain schemas and semantic data models capturing entities, relationships, and capabilities.
• Construct and maintain knowledge graphs over heterogeneous product data.
• Develop source and metadata parsers (including source-code/AST parsing) to extract structure automatically.
• Build typed programmatic interfaces and data-access layers over the knowledge layer.
• Implement retrieval and indexing layers (embeddings, RAG) over product knowledge.
• Collaborate with domain engineers to decompose complex product workflows into discrete steps.
• Assess data sources for coverage, quality, and schema completeness across multiple products.
