Job summary

Union Home Mortgage in Strongsville, Ohio offers a summer L.E.A.D Internship Program for AI Engineer Interns. You’ll support research, development, and evaluation of AI solutions to improve mortgage operations from origination to servicing and customer experiences.

Work with engineers and business stakeholders to prototype, test, and evaluate AI systems, including ML, LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows, while learning best practices in responsible AI.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in AI/ML concepts including supervised/unsupervised learning, training/validation, loss functions, optimization.
• Understanding of neural networks, backpropagation, activation functions, and gradient learning.
• Ability to explain Transformer architectures: attention, tokens, embeddings, context windows, and autoregressive generation.
• Familiarity with LLMs, prompting, inference, tool use, and model limitations.
• Interest in AI agents, LangGraph/LangChain is a plus.
• Experience with Python and software development basics.

Responsibilities

• Research & develop AI/ML solutions to improve mortgage operations and customer experiences.
• Identify opportunities to automate repetitive tasks using AI.
• Build and improve AI workflows including LLM, RAG, agentic approaches.
• Test and evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, reliability and appropriate use.
• Support responsible AI practices with safeguards, documentation, and human-in-the-loop processes.
• Collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to define problems and deliver solutions.
• Stay current with AI/ML advancements and assess relevance to the business.
