Job summary

MISO is hiring an AI Engineer to build AI-powered solutions that influence grid planning, operation, and optimization. You will apply AI and cloud-native tech to predict grid conditions and enable smarter decisions across a major energy system.

You will collaborate with data scientists and engineers to prototype, test, and deploy AI solutions, explore new tools like OpenAI and Vertex AI, and contribute to securing reliable electricity for millions of Americans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE/Data Science or related field.
• Proficiency with AI coding assistants for real-time prototyping.
• Hands-on experience with prompt engineering and RAG pipelines.
• Experience with OpenAI/Azure OpenAI/Anthropic APIs.

Responsibilities

• Build AI that matters by prototyping AI-driven solutions for grid reliability and smarter decisions.
• Experiment with tools/frameworks and propose AI usage recommendations across MISO.
• Turn ideas into MVPs and scalable solutions from concept to production.
• Stay current on AI advances and share insights with teammates and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers and software engineers to deploy AI solutions.
