Job summary

Samsara in Washington state seeks a Staff AI Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of tools powering HR workflows and AI initiatives. You’ll design, build, and operate secure, scalable applications and automations transforming manual HR work into production‑grade solutions.

This role sits in the People team and requires coordinating with HR, IT, and business stakeholders, delivering AI‑driven HR solutions, integrating Workday and Google Suite, and staying ahead of AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable work experience.
• 8+ years building and scaling production-grade applications and integrations.
• Hands-on experience with large language models and AI workflows.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting and API interaction.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with low-code/no-code automation and core enterprise platforms.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain HR tech solutions that enhance HR programs and data quality.
• Lead roadmap planning, experimentation frameworks, and modeling strategy discussions.
• Identify data, tool, and process gaps and drive initiatives to close them.
• Develop and deploy AI-powered tools automating HR processes such as onboarding, offboarding, and knowledge retrieval.
• Integrate people systems with Workday, Google Suite, Slack, Salesforce, and similar platforms.
• Stay current on AI and HR technology, identifying opportunities for innovation and efficiency.
• Provide end-user support, documentation, and training to ensure adoption and smooth operation.
