Job summary

Protocase Inc. in Wilmington, NC is hiring an AI Engineer (Agentic Workflows) to design and build AI-driven workflows and agentic systems on top of LLMs. You will blend orchestration, retrieval, and tool integration to deliver practical, automated business solutions.

You will work with product teams to translate business problems into scoped technical implementations, while ensuring production-grade observability and reliable performance.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience building applications on top of LLM APIs or self-hosted inference.
• Practical experience with at least one agent orchestration framework or workflow automation platform.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and systems thinking.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agentic workflows that plan, call tools, and chain multi-step actions with minimal human intervention.
• Integrate LLMs into products and internal tools via APIs and inference frameworks.
• Architect RAG pipelines with document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, and vector DBs.
• Design prompts, system instructions, and context-management strategies to steer model behavior.
• Select orchestration tooling to coordinate multi-agent or multi-step workflows.
• Build evaluation harnesses and test suites for AI workflows.
