Job summary

Inato is seeking a dedicated AI Engineer to lead the development of AI-driven solutions that impact clinical research and patient care. You will design, implement, and deploy LL M–based features and agent systems, working across cross-functional teams to integrate AI into the platform.

Qualifications

• Multiple years of software/ ML/AI engineering experience.
• Experience shipping LL M–based features (OpenAI, Anthropic, RAG, agent setup) used by real users.
• Proficiency in Python and production-grade code delivery.
• Strong communication skills in English (and French).
• Product mindset and ability to influence the roadmap.

Responsibilities

• Choose and orchestrate the right models to process and analyze multimodal data.
• Design and implement cutting-edge RAG techniques for large medical documents and patient histories.
• Build agentic systems to improve drug development tasks like patient recruitment or site selection.
• Collaborate with software engineers, PMs, data engineers to integrate AI into the platform.

We are looking for a dedicated and creative AI Engineer to join our team. As an essential contributor to our mission of transforming healthcare, you'll play a leading role in building AI-driven solutions that directly influence clinical research and, ultimately, improve patient care. We’ve already deployed multiple AI use cases in production, and your skills will be crucial in pushing the boundaries of healthcare AI.

Here are some examples of projects you might work on:

• Our prescreening tool: an app relying on the latest reasoning models and visual RAG to accelerate patient recruitment. It's already being used across hundreds of clinical sites to assess patient eligibility at scale. You may find more on this in our publication: https://arxiv.org/abs/2503.15374
• Our site selection agent: an agentic assistant coupled with a mathematical optimiser to assist pharmaceutical sponsors in their search for efficient clinical sites and find the right mix of sites for every study.

Требования:

• Several years of engineering experience with machine learning, data science, or AI at the centre of your work, not alongside it.
• You’ve shipped LLM-based features (OpenAI, Anthropic, RAG setup, agent setup, LLM observability tools etc.) that real users use, and you’ve lived with them afterwards: fixed them when they broke, iterated when they underperformed, watched how people actually used them.
• Python proficiency
• Strong problem‑solving skills
• Strong communication skills, oral and written, both English and French
• Strong product mindset able to challenge the product roadmap directly with our CPO
• Knowledge about LLM’s evaluation challenges
• Ability to autonomously deliver clean and production‑ready code Good fits we see often ML engineers and data scientists who moved into LLM work as it matured. Researchers who moved into production. Software engineers who went deep on AI and stayed there.
• Probably not a fit your AI work has been research, prototypes or POCs with nothing shipped and maintained in production.
• you’ve spent most of your career in software engineering and shipped your first AI feature in the last year.
