Job summary

Lennox International is seeking an AI-Enabled Full Stack Software Engineering Intern in Richardson, TX. You will contribute to frontend and backend development, data modeling, testing, and documentation while gaining exposure to AI-assisted development and enterprise modernization.

Successful interns may join Lennox Full-Time after graduation. Relocation/travel may be required. Compensation is hourly with relocation support if needed and a strong focus on hands-on learning and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Master's degree in CS, Software Engineering, CE, IT, or MIS or related field.
  • Experience with Java and Spring Boot or a comparable backend framework.
  • Experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Understanding of REST API design and integration principles.
  • Knowledge of SQL, relational databases, and data modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and refine production-quality web application features under guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Develop frontend components and UX using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, CSS.
  • Build and enhance backend services with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable software solutions.
  • Support AI-enabled software delivery and modernization efforts.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Full Stack Application Development
  • Design, build, and refine production-quality web application features under the guidance of experienced software engineers.
  • Develop frontend components and user experiences using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Build and enhance backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs.
  • Translate business requirements and user feedback into scalable software solutions.
AI-Enabled Software Delivery
  • Support the development and validation of reusable AI skills, agents, scaffolding patterns, and iterative delivery workflows.
  • Explore and improve AI-assisted development techniques to increase quality, speed, and repeatability.
  • Assist in documenting and refining AI development practices for future project teams.
  • Contribute to the creation of reusable playbooks, development standards, and delivery frameworks.
Application Modernization & Product Development
  • Support modernization efforts for strategic enterprise applications, including the ADP Compass platform.
  • Develop user-facing capabilities such as search functionality, configuration tools, optimization results, and comparison views.
  • Assist in enhancing solution resiliency, performance, and maintainability.
  • Participate in feature reviews, demonstrations, and sprint-based development activities.
Data & Domain Modeling
  • Work with relational databases, data models, and application schemas.
  • Support the creation and validation of data sets used for testing and solution verification.
  • Assist in analyzing application outputs and ensuring alignment with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to improve data quality, performance, and reliability.
Quality Engineering & Continuous Improvement
  • Create and execute unit, integration, and user interface tests.
  • Develop test cases and support validation efforts to ensure software quality.
  • Assist with debugging, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
  • Capture lessons learned and recommendations to improve future software delivery initiatives.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field
  • Experience with Java and Spring Boot or a comparable backend development framework
  • Experience with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Understanding of REST API design and integration principles
  • Knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, and data modeling
  • Familiarity with Git and GitHub version control practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly, work through ambiguity, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, AI coding assistants, agent workflows, or prompt engineering
  • Understanding of reusable AI development patterns, skills, or MCP-based integrations
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Playwright, Jest, Jasmine, or Karma
  • Familiarity with Azure, AKS, CI/CD pipelines, containers, authentication, or observability tools
  • Exposure to optimization algorithms, data modeling, or complex business domains
  • Interest in large-scale data processing, performance tuning, and data-intensive applications

What We Are Looking For

What We Offer

Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $22.50 – $25.00/hour. This rate is based on the intern's current year in their respective university programs. Graduate students may receive a higher rate of pay based on their year in school. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
