Job summary

GlobalFoundries is seeking an experienced CPU IP Design Engineer to lead RTL development for an AI-enabled RISC-V CPU core. You will own architecture, design, verification, and performance/area/power trade-offs.

The role involves driving micro-architecture, implementing vector and AI features, and collaborating with modeling, verification, and physical design teams to meet tight timing and power goals.

Qualifications

• Hands-on knowledge of the pipeline stages of a high-performance CPU core.
• Strong microarchitecture knowledge including vector/AI extensions.
• Experience with verification using simulators and waveform debugging tools.

Responsibilities

• Drive micro-architecture and design of critical blocks of the CPU core.
• Design of RISC-V Vector CPU core and its extensions.
• Design of AI-enabled Matrix engine to augment the Vector CPU.
• Explore high-performance strategies with the CPU modeling team.
• Define specifications from architectural exploration to RTL details.
• Refine RTL features to meet power, performance, area, and timing goals.
• Support functional verification and assist in verification strategy.
• Verify RTL design performance goals and timing budgets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on physical design aspects.
