Job summary

Waymo is seeking a Software Quality Operations role focused on ML/Gen‑AI innovations to enhance the Waymo Driver quality and safety. You will partner with Engineering to design, test, and deploy models, monitor issues, and codify AI policies for vendor workflows.

Applicants should have a BS/BA or equivalent experience in AV software quality, with ML testing and regulatory knowledge. This full-time role supports a remote-capable US team and offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience across the ML development lifecycle: data prep, training, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• ML testing/validation expertise: dataset QA, bias detection, edge-case testing, stats-based evaluation.
• Ability to learn new concepts quickly and use proprietary tools.
• Strong understanding of driving rules and regulations.
• Willingness to provide occasional on-call availability and outside-hours meetings.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Engineering to design, test, and deploy ML and Gen‑AI models to improve issue discovery and QA.
• Identify on-road issue trends and develop data-driven strategies for issue discovery and monitoring.
• Define SOPs that integrate AI tools into daily vendor workflows.
• Design quality control processes for human and AI outputs; provide feedback to improve performance.
• Serve as SME for SWQOps, aligning with stakeholders and vendors on AI/ML adoption.
• Provide technical leadership and requirements to engineering and support tool development.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain judgment.
• Communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders.
