Job summary

Lucea is hiring a software engineer to join our growing health-tech team in Boston. You’ll build backend services, integrate with EHRs and phone systems, and help scale real-time AI workflows used during live patient calls.

You’ll own backend code, contribute to AI-driven transcription and note generation, ensure reliability, security, and observability, and collaborate with clinical and product stakeholders to ship high-quality features.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software engineering experience with production systems.
• Proficiency in Python or Node.js (ideally both).
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
• Comfort with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar).
• Strong fundamentals: data structures, API design, debugging, testing.
• AI is how you build. You use AI coding tools and agents daily, and you ship faster because of it.
• You're curious about the frontier. You try new models and agentic tools as they come out, and you have opinions about what they're good for.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services in Python and Node.js.
• Design and evolve data models in PostgreSQL.
• Build integrations with EHRs, phone systems, and third-party APIs.
• Write clean, tested, well-documented code.
• Build and improve LLM workflows behind live transcription, note generation, and chat.
• Help build evaluation and testing infrastructure for AI outputs.
• Work with streaming data and real-time voice pipelines.
• Use AI tools and agents to speed up your own work.
