Job summary

Lilly is seeking Scientific Software Developers in San Diego to build data infrastructure, tools, and lab automation for AI-driven drug discovery. Collaborate with discovery scientists and data scientists to translate needs into prototypes, data pipelines, APIs, and workflow tools, then hand off mature solutions for enterprise scaling.

Role anchors in Architecture4Insight with cross-team collaboration across Methods4Insight and Automation & Scale4Insight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s in CS, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, or related STEM field.
• 3+ years (Bachelor) or 1+ year (Master) of scientific software development.
• Proficiency in Python and another language; strong SQL skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for complex scientific data with FAIR access.
• Develop RESTful APIs and microservices for LIMS, ELNs, and data warehouses.
• Prototype apps and dashboards for scientists; hand off mature solutions to Tech@Lilly.
• Build lab automation software and instrument integrations with metadata traceability.
• Create cloud-native components with IaC, CI/CD, and workflow orchestration.
