Frontline Education is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead backend architecture and AI-powered workflows. You will work across engineering, security, and product teams to deliver scalable, compliant enterprise solutions in a hybrid/remote environment.

The role blends hands-on coding with strategic AI governance, mentoring, and architecture leadership to advance the company’s AI maturity and product capabilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in backend/enterprise systems.
• Expert-level proficiency with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, RESTful APIs, SOA and MS SQL Server.
• Proven experience designing scalable, high-availability enterprise systems.
• Strong cloud-native development experience, preferably AWS.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Hands-on AI integration in production systems.
• Familiarity with LLMs, RAG, vector databases, model orchestration and responsible AI.
• Experience in regulated, security-sensitive industries.
• Secure software development, IAM, data privacy, auditing and governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and evolution of back-end systems using C#, .NET, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native patterns.
• Architect scalable, secure, observable services for regulated environments.
• Drive decisions on API design, data models, async processing, and deployment readiness.
• Collaborate with product, security, compliance, data, and infrastructure teams.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to critical technical decisions.
