Expedition Technology is seeking a Software / Machine Learning Engineer to design and deploy AI-enabled systems in mission environments. You will develop scalable backend services, integrate ML models, and build robust data pipelines in a fast-paced, agile setting.

Join a multidisciplinary team focusing on retrieval workflows, APIs, and end-to-end workflows with cloud-native tools like AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, while maintaining security clearance requirements.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.
• Active Secret clearance minimum; TS/SCI preferred.
• BS/BA or higher in CS/CE/Data Science/Applied Math or related field.
• 3+ years producing production software with Python.
• Backend services and API design experience.
• Experience building ML systems and deploying models.
• Familiarity with cloud-native AWS environments.
• Docker/Kubernetes or similar container tech experience.
• Understanding ML workflows, deployment, and inference pipelines.
• Familiar with retrieval/knowledge-based systems or RAG.
• Experience integrating multiple services into end-to-end workflows.
• Proficient in Linux, CLI, and Git-based workflows.
• Self-driven, collaborative in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI-enabled capabilities in an Agile team.
• Design software integrating ML models into workflows.
• Build agentic workflows for inference, info gathering, tool queries, and dissemination.
• Develop scalable backend services using Python and cloud-native tech.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to operationalize ML.
• Create APIs and data pipelines supporting model execution and data retrieval.
• Develop retrieval-based and knowledge-enhanced workflows for reasoning tasks.
• Contribute to SDLC and automated testing, ensuring quality.
• Identify bottlenecks for performance, scalability, and reliability.
