Timestamp Group is seeking a Backend Developer in the United States to design, build, and maintain backend services using Java and Quarkus. AI-first workflows will be embedded in daily tasks, including coding, testing, and reviews with tools like GitLab Duo and Claude Code.

The role involves collaborating with engineers, QA and product to deliver reliable, well-tested software at scale, while maintaining high standards for code quality and performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Experience with Java; Quarkus is a plus.
• Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools (GitLab Duo, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) daily.
• Experience designing and building APIs and Java-based microservices that scale in production.
• Experience writing automated unit and integration tests for backend systems.
• Ability to understand feature context before designing technical solutions.
• Willingness to explore and responsibly integrate new AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Quarkus.
• Incorporate AI tools like GitLab Duo and Claude Code to speed coding, testing, and reviews.
• Tackle day-to-day backend tasks including features, bug fixes, and refactors with AI acceleration.
• Write automated tests for backend services to improve coverage.
• Participate in AI-assisted and peer code reviews to uphold engineering standards.
• Troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and speed up root-cause analysis with AI tools.
• Collaborate with backend engineers, QA and product to deliver reliable software.
