Job summary

Inversion's AI & Internal Tools Software Engineering Intern in Los Angeles, CA, will help build internal applications, automation platforms, and AI-enabled tools that accelerate how we design, manufacture, and operate next‑generation spacecraft.

You will join the Internal Software Tools team, own a major project, and work with engineers and stakeholders to identify problems, craft solutions, and deliver production‑quality software across the stack.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated software development experience through personal projects, open-source contributions, research, engineering teams, or previous internships.
• Experience building software applications using one or more languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Go, or Rust.
• Familiarity with frontend or backend application development, including web frameworks, APIs, or databases.

Responsibilities

• Own a major software engineering project from initial concept and requirements gathering through design, implementation, testing, and production deployment.
• Design and build full-stack applications, including intuitive user interfaces, backend services, APIs, databases, and integrations.
• Develop AI-enabled tools and intelligent automation systems that streamline engineering and business workflows.
• Integrate large language models (LLMs), AI agents, and other emerging technologies into practical software applications where appropriate.
• Collaborate directly with engineers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to understand their workflows and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Gather feedback from real users, iterate on solutions, and deliver polished, production-quality tools.
