Job summary

Apple, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA seeks a Principal Software Architect to define and lead the technical vision for the Finance Technology Platform.

You will architect a multi-tenant, AI-native platform that handles financial processing end-to-end with humans in the loop by policy, not by default, and set standards for other teams to follow. You will influence architecture before code, own standards for financial correctness, and partner with Finance, Controllership, Tax, and Internal Audit leadership

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale distributed transactional systems.
• Lead architect experience for a platform used by multiple engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience building AI-native applications in production, including harness engineering.
• Expertise in event-driven and event-sourced architectures and scalable data stores.
• Experience with regulated, audited environments and financial systems.
• Strong communication with executives, finance, and engineering teams.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end architecture for the Finance Technology Platform at enterprise scale.
• Architect a multi-tenant, configurable foundation enabling onboarding of new financial flows in weeks.
• Own the agentic architecture and production readiness across AI workflows and integration points.
• Design the agent harness, orchestration, memory, and audit trails for determinism and traceability.
• Establish governance for evaluation, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop escalation.
• Set core platform patterns and reusable components for consistency and scalability.
• Own financial correctness and SOX controls with auditable, immutable event history.
