Job summary

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is seeking a Design Automation Engineer to build scalable backend systems for AI-powered semiconductor design. You will design data pipelines, schemas, and retrieval/knowledge-graph components to help architects, designers, and verification engineers access engineering data at scale.

The ideal candidate has strong Python, distributed systems experience, and familiarity with RTL/HDL toolchains.

Qualifications

• Strong Python engineering background with testing discipline in a large codebase.
• Experience designing data models and large-scale data pipelines.
• Experience with AI/LLM-based retrieval, knowledge graphs, and agent workflows.
• Familiarity with RTL/HDL semantics and hardware design toolchains.
• This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend data pipelines from engineering sources.
• Develop scalable data schemas and queries for production use.
• Build AI/LLM components for natural language querying of data.
• Diagnose and fix reliability and performance issues in batch pipelines.
• Extend data pipelines to additional engineering data domains.
• Tune LLM components for accuracy, cost, and latency.
• Follow a TDD-driven workflow with version control and code reviews.
• Collaborate with architecture, verification, and design teams.
