Job summary

PhaseWell Research is seeking an Analyst, Contracting and Budgeting to support sponsor-facing contracting and budgeting across our Site Network. You will drive CTAs and study budgets with a focus on standardization, compliance, and commercial competitiveness.

Ideal candidates bring a solid finance foundation, 3+ years in finance or contracts within clinical research, and strong negotiation and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• Demonstrated finance or accounting background with financial modelling and budget analysis.
• Minimum 3 years of industry experience in finance, contracts, or budgeting within pharmaceutical, CRO, or clinical research site industries.
• Experience negotiating Clinical Trial Agreements and study budgets with sponsors and CROs.
• Strong knowledge of clinical trial regulations, GCP/ICH guidelines, and best practices for site-level contracting.
• Experience with contract redlining, risk identification, and legal language interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Support sponsor and CRO contract and budget negotiations across the Site Network.
• Assist with the negotiation of Clinical Trial Agreements, Confidentiality Agreements, Master Service Agreements, and amendments.
• Help build relationships with sponsor and CRO counterparts to facilitate deal-making and protect site interests.
• Advocate for fair market value and equitable terms while balancing speed-to-activation goals.
• Prepare, review, and analyze study budgets, including per-patient costs, pass-through expenses, and overhead recovery.
• Conduct fair market value assessments and benchmark comparisons to support negotiations.
• Identify financial risks, gaps, and opportunities in proposed budgets and suggest mitigations.
• Ensure budgets reflect protocol-required activities and align with site cost structures.
• Perform first-pass redlining and legal review of contract language to identify risk and ensure compliance.
• Escalate complex provisions to internal team; improve templates and playbooks for consistency across network.
• Track and report contracting and budgeting metrics with cross-functional teams.
