Job summary

Veracyte is seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead the engineering team for our AI‑powered Billing Automation platform. The role guides people, technical direction, and delivery across cloud‑native services and enterprise integrations.

You will partner with Product Management, Revenue Cycle Management, Finance, and Data & AI to reduce manual work, improve billing accuracy, and accelerate reimbursement while ensuring security and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing software teams.
• Proven success hiring, developing, and retaining high‑performing engineers.
• Experience delivering enterprise software, cloud‑native apps, APIs, distributed systems, and integrations.
• Healthcare billing, revenue‑cycle management, or AI‑enabled products desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high‑performing software engineering team.
• Define and execute the engineering roadmap with cross‑functional partners.
• Deliver secure, scalable, cloud‑native applications and APIs for billing and revenue workflows.
• Define technical strategy for applying AI to billing automation with reliability and compliance.
• Partner with AI engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to prioritize automation opportunities.
• Develop AI‑powered capabilities such as document processing, claims validation, and workflow orchestration.
• Design integrations with ERP, CRM, LIS/EMR, clearinghouses, and payer systems.
• Establish engineering best practices for AI in production (governance, observability, human‑in‑the‑loop).
• Drive CI/CD, IaC, automated testing, security, and platform observability.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance for healthcare data.
• Collaborate with CloudOps to optimize AWS infrastructure for cost and availability.
• Define engineering and operational KPIs and foster a culture of ownership and innovation.
