Job summary

Block is seeking a Software Engineer for the Financial Platform Engineering team to build scalable financial infrastructure. You will design backend services, integrate with internal and external systems, and lead the migration of critical workflows to Block's internal platforms.

The role emphasizes AI-enabled development and cross-functional collaboration across Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Procurement, Product, TPMs, Engineering, and Data teams.

Qualifications

• Experience designing backend services for financial platforms.
• Ability to translate financial/regulatory requirements into engineering solutions.
• Strong collaboration with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services for financial operations and reporting.
• Lead migration of workflows to internal systems with minimal disruptions.
• Design workflow engines, routing, and event-driven automation.
• Own end-to-end integrations with internal and external systems using APIs and messaging.
• Collaborate with accounting, FP&A, Tax, Procurement, Product and Data teams.
• Ensure audit trails, access controls, and data governance by design.
• Drive architecture decisions and mentor engineers; emphasize code quality.
• Direct AI agents across development lifecycle; oversee AI-assisted building.
• Explore AI tooling to automate repetitive engineering work and improve code quality.
