Job summary

General Motors Company in Austin, Texas, is seeking an AI Data Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team focused on building scalable data assets, AI data products, and data platforms that support BI, advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI. You will own an AI data engineering area and translate strategy into a concrete roadmap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, platform engineering, AI/ML engineering, or related discipline with production delivery of scalable data solutions.
• 3+ years directly leading technical teams including coaching, performance, staffing, prioritization, and delivery outcomes.
• Advanced understanding of data and AI platform architecture including data pipelines, data products, feature/embedding pipelines, model data delivery, and production operations.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with distributed data processing like Apache Spark and container orchestration such as Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a diverse team of data engineers, AI/ML platform engineers, software engineers, and technical leads with clear roles and objectives.
• Translate GPSC and Data organization strategies into an actionable AI data engineering roadmap and delivery commitments.
• Own architecture and operational health of data and AI capabilities across batch, streaming, and near-real-time workloads.
• Establish data contracts, schema management, lineage, metadata, data quality, observability, security, privacy, and platform reliability.
• Drive MLOps/LLMOps patterns including versioning, CI/CD, deployment automation, monitoring, drift detection, and retraining triggers.
