Job summary

AbbVie seeks a Principal Data Engineer to design and operate production-grade data pipelines across CMC and manufacturing systems. You will harmonize data, implement governance, and deliver AI-ready data products, partnering with scientists, engineers, and QA to enable reliable, scalable analytics and model deployment.

You will work inside a PDST-like organization, building lakehouse architectures and contributing to data platform evolution while ensuring compliance with GxP and 21 CFR Part 11

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or closely related field; years of experience as specified.
• Hands-on experience designing and building enterprise-grade data pipelines in multi-source environments.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and modern data stack tools.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable data ingestion pipelines connecting MES, LIMS, QMS, ERP, and instrument data.
• Develop harmonized data models and ontologies for CMC and manufacturing data.
• Implement data quality controls, lineage, and governance aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Build governed data products for AI/ML consumption (feature stores, datasets).
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to ensure data models reflect domain reality.
