Job summary

Targeted Approach seeks an experienced analytics lead for the Pentagon-based GPN Program Office to drive analytics, modeling, and simulation efforts. You will coordinate a data team, guide complex data pipelines, and deliver actionable recommendations to modernization and readiness initiatives.

The role requires 8+ years in the field, DoD experience, DoD security clearance, and willingness to commute to the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Python or R for algorithm development, UI creation, data synthesis, and visualizations.
  • Advanced SQL skills for data extraction and query automation.
  • Experience applying AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch to build predictive models and analyze complex datasets.
  • Experience with high-resolution modeling and simulation tools such as ExtendSim and simulation-optimization tools such as OptDef.
  • Familiarity with DoD logistics data sources (TFSMS, GCSS-MC, MCPIC) for model input.
  • Experience establishing data standards, building datasets, monitoring data quality, and resolving data integrity issues.
  • Proficiency in statistical methods, data modeling, BI and visualization tools, dashboards, and analytical reporting.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions, coordinate with government and external stakeholders, brief senior leaders, and guide junior/mid-level analysts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site analytical advisory for analytics, modeling, and simulation in the GPN Program Office at the Pentagon.
  • Coordinate and oversee off-site junior/mid-level data team while supporting program execution.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with CNA, CD&I, I&L, ONR, DIU, MSC, OPNAV, and others on future GPN laydowns, technologies, modernization, integration.
  • Provide data-driven analysis and recommendations informing modernization strategy, investment, force posture, and POM-cycle planning.
  • Maintain analytical inputs to the GPN Common Operating Picture and prepare daily GPN status reports for I&L leadership.
  • Build predictive simulation models using LOG IT system data to assess policy changes and operational scenarios.
  • Develop and automate data pipelines and complex queries to extract, validate, transform, and consolidate data sources into metrics, dashboards, and model inputs.
  • Apply DoW and USMC cybersecurity and data governance requirements to workflows and data products.
  • Support monthly status reporting, transition planning, meeting materials, action-item tracking, and knowledge transfer.
  • Serve as primary contact to the COR and coordinate contract administration with corporate PM.
  • Deliver monthly status reports, transition plans, meeting materials, and daily GPN status reports.
  • Travel ~4 times per year for GPN planning conferences.

  • We require a bachelors degree.
  • A degree in data science, computer science, operations research, engineering, mathematics, statistics, information systems, or a related analytical field is preferred.
  • We require an active Secret security clearance.
  • We require the ability to commute to the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
  • We require 8 years of AI experience.
  • We require 8 years of DoD experience.
Responsibilities:
  • We serve as the lead on-site analytical advisor for analytics, modeling, and simulation work within the GPN Program Office at the Pentagon.
  • We coordinate and oversee an off-site junior and mid-level data team while supporting overall program and project execution.
  • We facilitate technical discussions with CNA, CD&I, I&L, ONR, DIU, MSC, OPNAV, and other stakeholders on future GPN laydowns, technologies, modernization, and integration.
  • We provide data-driven analysis and recommendations that inform modernization strategy, investment, force posture, materiel positioning, readiness, availability, and POM-cycle planning.
  • We maintain analytical inputs to the GPN Common Operating Picture and help prepare the daily GPN status report for I&L leadership.
  • We build predictive simulation models using LOG IT system data to assess policy changes and operational scenarios affecting GPN throughput and asset distribution.
  • We develop and automate data pipelines and complex queries that extract, validate, transform, and consolidate multiple data sources into metrics, dashboards, reports, and model inputs.
  • We apply DoW and USMC cybersecurity and data governance requirements, including DoDI 8500.01, to our analytical workflows and data products.
  • We support monthly status reporting, transition-in planning, meeting agendas and presentations, meeting minutes, action-item tracking, knowledge transfer, training materials, and capacity-building activities.
  • We support Program Manager reporting and serve as the primary point of contact to the COR while coordinating contract administration with our corporate PM.
  • We deliver monthly status reports, a transition-in plan, meeting materials and minutes, a capacity-building and transition plan, daily GPN status reports, predictive simulation models, and scheduled data extraction and transformation metrics.
  • We travel approximately four times per year for GPN planning conferences as directed.
