Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking an AI Control Systems Engineer to join the Vehicle Control Technology Team within the Vehicle Control Software Department.

The role focuses on machine learning, reinforcement learning, and model predictive control to enhance dynamics, efficiency, and customer experience for NA vehicles. The engineer will develop AI-driven control strategies, adapt models for in-vehicle use, and support testing at North American proving grounds and

Qualifications

• BS in aerospace, computer, electrical, mechanical engineering, robotics, or related field.
• 1–7 years applying ML/ RL and MPC to AI-driven vehicle control strategies.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for ML and embedded code.
• Experience with ML frameworks and control theory fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Engineer ML solutions to estimate payload, trailer mass, and tire-road friction.
• Design ML algorithms for high-stress towing/off-road systems to predict failures.
• Develop ML for personalized vehicle control features across environments.
• Research AI-driven control strategies to optimize performance (towing, terrain, energy).
• Adapt AI models for embedded real-time deployment on ECUs.
• Transition algorithms from simulation to rapid prototyping hardware.
• Participate in hands-on in-vehicle testing and tuning.
