Job summary

ByteDance is seeking PhD-holding researchers to join the AI Compute + DPU teams, driving the next‑generation AI infrastructure for large‑scale LLM inference and AI agents.

You will lead end‑to‑end research on heterogeneous environments, scheduling, and data center optimization, contributing to systems used across global workloads. Collaboration and open‑source contributions are encouraged.

Qualifications

• PhD candidate or recent PhD in a relevant field with strong system-building background.
• First-author publications in top venues with clear technical contributions.
• Proven ability to implement or optimize real systems beyond prototypes.
• Strong understanding of compute, network architecture, and OS.

Responsibilities

• Define technical directions and lead end-to-end system work.
• Create and evaluate prototypes for AI infrastructure components.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive research impact.
• Contribute to open-source or widely used infrastructure projects.
• Articulate decisions and trade-offs clearly.
