Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking a student Intern to join our AI-driven consulting team for a 4-month term starting January 2027, working hybrid from Toronto, Calgary, or Montreal. You will help plan, gather requirements, and translate business problems into AI solutions, learning from senior consultants and gaining hands-on exposure to cutting-edge tools.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Business, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
• Ability to understand business needs and challenges and apply a logical, defensible approach to solving them.
• Curiosity and creativity in re-imagining how work is done with cutting-edge AI tools.
• Sound judgment in using AI responsibly, including verifying outputs for accuracy and protecting sensitive information.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly present ideas and insights to peers and team members.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build positive working relationships.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage timelines and deliver work with attention to detail.
• Eagerness to learn quickly, seek out feedback, and act on it.
• Working proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel for analysis, report creation, and productivity.
• All locations require fluency in English; Montreal requires fluency in French.

Responsibilities

• Supporting requirement gathering to understand, document, and frame business problems, business cases, and pain points.
• Leveraging AI tooling to improve internal processes, working models, and deliverables.
• Helping synthesize and communicate insights, recommendations, and outputs to the project team and clients.
• Supporting project planning, timelines, and deliverables across one or more engagements.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align business needs with technical solutions.
• Helping prepare presentations, reports, and materials that support client deliverables.
• Assisting in identifying opportunities to apply AI and automation to improve business processes.
• Helping track project progress and support successful delivery against objectives.
