Job summary
AMETEK, Inc. in Southern California is seeking a proactive AI Automation Intern to drive hands-on projects that apply AI best practices across the organization.
You will work on a magnetics design automation tool and automate firmware modification and calibration processes, with opportunities to influence real engineering work. This role requires current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master’s program in engineering or data science, experience with C programming, TI IDE, and AI productivity
Qualifications
- Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering, Data Science, CS, or related field.
- Experience with AI, ML, automation, or data analytics.
- Experience with AI productivity tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar).
- Experience with C programming for embedded/firmware.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end projects focused on implementing an AI best practice.
- Develop an AI enabled magnetics design automation capability with ML models.
- Develop automation workflows to update firmware configuration values and calibration gains.
- Reduce manual editing of hard-coded parameters and gain values in C source files.
- Translate product requirements into reliable firmware change rules.
- Support validation of generated firmware changes through tests and builds.
- Document the automation process, tool usage, and limitations for team adoption.
- Develop datasheet standards and governance documentation.
- Build prototypes, process maps, or proof-of-concept demonstrations.
- Implement AI Agents or productivity tools to drive efficiency.
- Present outcomes and recommendations to leaders.
