As a AI Architect in the Data and AI Center of Excellence, you will lead the development of cutting-edge data solutions. Your role involves creating robust architectures to capture, integrate, organize, and maintain data for innovative products. Collaborating with diverse teams, you will drive the integration and adoption of AI and GenAI capabilities, playing a key role in designing and developing an AI Development Platform. This position places you at the forefront of enterprise-wide AI adoption, influencing the technical framework for Data and AI products, delivery, and developer enablement.

About IDEXX Data and AI Center of Excellence:

The COE develops data and AI assets to enhance IDEXX products, services, and operations. It comprises talented engineers, architects, data scientists, and analysts driving AI innovation in veterinary care. We aim to shape the technological landscape of IDEXX with innovative solutions for customers and employees.

In this role:

1. Architectural Design:

• Create comprehensive architecture blueprints, including design options, current and future state diagrams, transition steps, data models, data pipelines, AI/GenAI, information flows, multi-agent systems, and effort estimates.
• Develop and maintain the overall technical architecture for Data and AI products.
• Provide architecture design and planning for application architecture, system landscape, installation sizing, change management, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution.

Technology Evaluation and Recommendation:

• Continuously evaluate and recommend optimal technologies for data products, ML/AI solutions, and the AI developer platform.
• Establish AI and Data standards, coordinating delivery through the PMO, Ops, and Development teams.
• Present concepts and strategies in working sessions and to executive leadership.

Collaboration and Development:

• Design and develop an AI Development Platform, promoting AI capabilities enterprise-wide.
• Work closely with product management and engineering teams to discover reusable datasets, design patterns, components, and infrastructure to optimize costs and find commonalities.

Standards and Best Practices:

• Produce and enforce data and AI development standards.
• Ensure data integrity and promote understanding of data’s strategic value throughout the company.

Leadership and Coaching:

• Provide leadership and coaching throughout project delivery, focusing on shared learning and best practices.

Mentoring and Documentation:

• Mentor teams on data architecture design and requirements.
• Document research findings, prepare reports, and contribute to publications.

Optimizing System Performance:

• Manage technical requests, design for optimal performance, identify problems, and document issues and resolutions.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 10+ years of technical experience.
2. Experience as a Data or Solutions Architect focusing on AI solutions.
3. Strong knowledge of AI and ML, with experience implementing solutions.
4. Experience with modern data architectures such as data mesh and data fabric.
5. Ability to define resilient architectural patterns for data pipelines and ecosystems.
6. Strong software engineering skills, proficiency in at least one programming language (preferably Python).
7. Hands-on experience with technologies like Databricks and Delta Tables.
8. Broad understanding of data engineering, Agile, UX, Cloud, software architecture, cybersecurity, and ModelOps/MLOps.
9. Experience with DevOps and CI/CD processes.
10. Ability to anticipate technological changes and adapt architecture accordingly.
11. Skill in scoping and driving technical discussions with data scientists, engineers, and partners.
