Job summary

GTT is seeking an AI Architect for a 1-year contract in Montgomery, AL. This onsite role pays $65.00–$70.01/hour (USD) and requires work authorization in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

The candidate will develop AI applications with Python, deploy Docker-based services, and ensure HIPAA-compliant operations in Medicaid environments, under AI leadership guidance. On-site collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient Python development for AI applications.
• Experience deploying and maintaining Dockerized AI services.
• Familiarity with security/compliance considerations in healthcare environments (HIPAA).

Responsibilities

• AI Application Development and Testing: develop, maintain, and test agentic tools using Python; assist with system architecture; build MCP servers for AI integration; create additional AI applications as directed.
• Deployment, Operation, and Maintenance: deploy and maintain AI apps in production; manage Dockerized environments; help with LLM deployment using containerized setups; maintain Open WebUI instances.
• Documentation and Training: develop user education materials and deliver training sessions; maintain Alabama Medicaid AI knowledge bases for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Server Administration Support: assist with server deployments, model testing, and performance monitoring.
• Security and Compliance: collaborate with Information Security Office to review code/images; ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Additional Responsibilities: participate in agile processes; maintain version control using Git, Azure DevOps.

Contract Details

• Position Type: Contract
• Contract Duration: 1 year with possible extension
• Pay Rate: $65.00–$70.01 / Hour (USD)
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Key Responsibilities

AI Application Development and Testing

• Develop, maintain, and test agentic tools using Python as the primary programming language.
• Assist with development of system architecture.
• Build and maintain MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers for AI application integration.
• Create and maintain other AI applications as directed by the AI Director and Lead AI Developer.

Deployment, Operation, and Maintenance

• Deploy, operate, and maintain developed AI applications in production environments. Most AI applications run as Docker containers.
• Assist with the deployment and maintenance of Large Language Models (LLMs) using vLLM in Docker containerized environments.
• Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of Open WebUI instances and configurations.
• Provide ongoing support for developed applications to ensure operational stability.

Documentation and Training

• Develop documentation and training materials for user education in the use of AI applications.
• Assist with the development and delivery of training sessions in-person at Medicaid or recorded sessions for on-demand training.
• Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of Alabama Medicaid AI knowledge bases used for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG).

Server Administration Support

• Assist the AI Director and Lead AI Developer with server admin tasks related to AI server and application deployments.
• Assist the AI Director and Lead AI Developer with AI model testing and fine-tuning activities.
• Monitor system health and performance of AI infrastructure components.

Security and Compliance

• Work with the Information Security Office to ensure that developed code and Docker images have been reviewed for security vulnerabilities.
• Work to resolve any security vulnerabilities that are discovered.
• Ensure all AI applications comply with Alabama Medicaid Agency security policies and healthcare data privacy regulations (HIPAA).

Additional Responsibilities

• Assist with other AI-related tasks at the direction of the CIO, AI Director, and Lead AI Developer as needed.
• Participate in agile development processes and team collaboration activities.
• Maintain version control of all code and documentation using Git, Azure DevOps, and other approved tools.

Important Notes

• Standard background check required.
• Candidate will work 100% onsite at the Montgomery, AL main office. No remote work allowed.
• No expense reimbursements will be approved.
• Confirmation needed if candidate is eligible for conversion to Merit.
• The assignment is currently budgeted for the current fiscal year, with the possibility of extending into the next fiscal year.
• Interview format: Video and/or onsite based on location.
