HP is offering a 12-week paid summer internship for an AI Applied Engineering Intern in the United States. The role focuses on improving AI inference for edge devices, balancing software engineering with machine learning, and evaluating AI workflows on resource-constrained hardware.

Our internships have a thoughtful balance of networking, executive speakers, community involvement, big meaty projects (no paper filing here!) and fun! The AI Applied Engineering Intern will support the optimization of HP’s Agentic AI ecosystem for edge devices. The intern will focus on improving the inference layer to enhance AI model performance, efficiency, responsiveness, and deployment on resource‑constrained hardware. The role combines software engineering, machine learning, and system design to evaluate AI workflows, identify performance bottlenecks, and develop practical optimization solutions. The intern will collaborate with engineering and strategy teams while using AI development tools such as Codex, Copilot, and Claude.
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline. Has no more than 24 months of prior work experience professionally related to the intern requisition they are applying to (not including internships, teaching assistance, research work, or military experience). Able to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2027, and not require sponsorship in the future.

The pay range for this position is $29 to $35 per hour (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
