Job summary

Wolter, Inc. is seeking an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) Operator in Pilot Mountain, NC. The role involves maintaining AGV operations, correcting malfunctions on the floor, and supporting material handling at the customer facility.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years of mechanic experience or related education, plus basic computer skills and the ability to read electrical/hydraulic schematics. OSHA certification is desirable.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assists with crane and conveyor operations on SmartSort and WinTMC equipment/PC programs.

  • Adheres to safety and environmental regulations and reports safety concerns.

Automated Guided Vehicle Operator

SUMMARY: Under general supervision, the Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) Operator maintains working operations of AGV systems. The Operator shall correct AGV malfunctions on the floor to support operations at the customer facility.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains a log of all faults/events during shift and submits them to the Team Lead.
  • Inspects Industrial Personnel Carriers (IPC) at the beginning of each shift and records information on the safety check list.
  • Reports any abnormal findings with IPCs to the AGV lead.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in all communications with client management.
  • Advises managers of any system discrepancies identified.
  • Assists technicians with crane and conveyor operations on SmartSort and WinTMC equipment? Computer programs?
  • Assists with weekly preventive maintenance PM? of AGVs as time allows.
  • Provides information to AGV Operator on the next shift outlining any guide path/stop changes made during the shift.
  • Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.
  • Performs other duties as required within the scope of responsibility.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent GED required, 1-3 years’ of mechanic experience and/or education relating to the position.Basic knowledge of computer and internet software. Familiarity with electronic, mechanical and hydraulic repair. Must be able to read codes, instructions and electrical and hydraulic schematics.

License/Certification: Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Possess, or be willing to obtain, certification to meet OSHA standards.

Language Skills: Ability to exercise excellent communication, organization, time management and listening skills. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills: Possess basic knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to troubleshoot issues and solve complex problems Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manual, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Usually works indoors on concrete surfaces and is exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and loud noise.. The employee is constantly exposed to irritations and discomfort from dirt, dust, and fumes. Employee is subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock, and injuries from falls. Follows prescribed safety practices and uses safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use.
