Job summary

The Ohio State University Extension - Fayette County is seeking a Student Assistant 2 to support agronomy outreach, research, and demonstrations at the Fayette County Research and Demonstration Farm. The position runs May through August with flexible hours, up to 38 hours per week during peak periods.

You will collect data, assist with plot work, and support field days and promotional communications while maintaining records and coordinating with ANR educators.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in agriculture, environmental, natural resources, or related degree program.
• Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with research, demonstration, and Extension activities at the Fayette County Research and Demonstration Farm and statewide eFields projects.
• Collect field data and samples (soil, plant, and crop observations) and assist with plot establishment, maintenance, scouting, and evaluation.
• Manage research records through data entry, organization, and quality control.
• Support agronomy outreach efforts, including field days, educational programs, social media, and promotions.
• Assist with farm operations and equipment maintenance, including mowing, plot upkeep, and preparation of research sites.
• Travel to research and demonstration locations throughout central and southwestern Ohio as needed.
