Job summary

US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is seeking applicants to design and deliver emergency and scientific training programs, diagnose animal diseases, support outbreak response, or engage in simulation modeling and ecological epidemiology.

Responsibilities include enforcing import/export agricultural regulations, explaining technical concepts to diverse audiences, and coordinating program activities with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources, chemistry, or related disciplines required.
• Combination of education and experience acceptable with 24 semester/36 quarter hours in related fields.
• Three years of graduate education leading to a PhD or equivalent may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Enforce agricultural regulations through inspection of commodities for import/export.
• Communicate science or regulatory concepts to individuals, colleagues, management or groups.
• Address needs in pest, wildlife or livestock disease management and related priorities.
• Coordinate, lead and promote program activities independently to stakeholders and external audiences.
• Apply technical knowledge to meet agricultural stakeholder needs.
