Job description

The Ag Technology internship is designed to deliver a best-in-class experience focused on increasing the selected intern’s knowledge and experience in Ag Technology and exploring how data-driven insights impact the various departments within a John Deere equipment dealership.

If selected, you will gain hands-on experience in operating and training on a variety of Ag Technology products offered by John Deere. In addition, you will work on leveraging machine, field, and agronomic data to create actionable insights that improve customer margins and outcomes as well as dealership operations. During your internship, you will assist internal and external customers with technology needs while also learning how to analyze, summarize, and present data to support decision-making. Finally, you will gain a broader understanding of a dealership by shadowing a variety of departments.

Specific experiences you can expect during your Internship:
  • Leading and/or shadowing demonstrations of new ag equipment and technology
  • Assisting Ag Technology Specialists with software installation updates and technology upgrades on John Deere agricultural equipment such as tractors, combines, sprayers, and planters
  • Exploring and analyzing data from multiple sources (field, machine, agronomic) to identify trends and opportunities for customers and the dealership
  • Participating in internal projects including but not limited to data analysis, visualization (Power BI), marketing, and training catalogs
  • Supporting user operation training of John Deere Ag Technology products and solutions to internal and external customers
  • Developing summaries and dashboards to communicate insights effectively to both customers and dealership teams
  • Gaining a deeper understanding of dealership operations outside of Ag Technology Department through job shadowing across all departments
  • Any other job duties as assigned during the course of your internship
What we’re looking for in the ideal intern candidate:
  • Currently enrolled in your 3rd or 4th year of a 4-year degree program with an Agriculture major (e.g., Agronomy, Ag Technology, Ag Business Management, etc.)
  • Deep passion for the Agricultural industry and a high level of interest in Ag Technology and data analytics
  • Understanding of Agricultural systems and previous operation of agricultural equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical and wireless communication systems
  • Experience or interest in tools such as Power BI, Excel, or other data visualization and analysis platforms
  • Solutions-oriented with the ability to evaluate processes, troubleshoot, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings to others
  • Customer-focused mindset with past successful experience supporting internal or external customer needs directly
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to juggle priorities and switch gears as needed
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Open to local (day) travel to other store locations and/or customers
