Job summary

Agribusiness Development Agency in Pietermaritzburg is seeking an Engineer (Agriculture/Civil) to lead planning, design and supervision of irrigation, water supply, farm structures and related infrastructure.

Candidates must have a BSc or B-Tech in Agricultural or Civil Engineering, active ECSA registration, and several years of experience; the role includes project management, compliance with acts, and reporting. This is a 3-year fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

• BSc or B-Tech in Agricultural or Civil Engineering required.
• Three years of relevant experience in agricultural/civil engineering.
• At least one year experience should be in middle management.
• Valid driver’s licence code 8.
• Active ECSA registration as Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership applying engineering principles to address challenges.
• Manage planning, design, and implementation of projects and systems.
• Develop cost-effective solutions per ADA standards.
• Develop design manuals, standard drawings and procedures.
• Promote safety and prepare project presentations and reports.
• Monitor service delivery and compliance with procedures.
