Job summary

The Wonderful Company is seeking a motivated GIS Technician to join Wonderful Orchards in Shafter, CA. You’ll support large-scale agricultural operations by collecting, managing, and mapping spatial data, with mentorship to develop your GIS skills in a real-world setting.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in a geospatial role, are proficient with ArcGIS, GPS data collection, and Microsoft Office, and are comfortable in field and office environments. Some travel or fieldwork may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Agriculture, GIS, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in a technical geospatial role.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS Desktop and other ESRI tools
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or similar software suite

Responsibilities

• Maintain spatial databases and create data for crop usage, acreage, plantings, and ranch infrastructure.
• Support the creation of maps for internal teams, including field trials, project maps, and operational planning.
• Conduct spatial analysis using ArcGIS and help interpret results related to crop production and land use.
• Support the collection and quality control of field data using GPS equipment and mobile applications.
• Coordinate with farming and operations teams to gather data and provide map-based insights.
• Help create user-friendly dashboards and visualizations to present GIS data.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support the GIS and Operations teams
