Job summary

Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry is seeking an Agricultural Environmental Specialist to perform professional inspections and enforce regulations across fertilizer, horticulture, lime, pesticides, quarantine, seed, and structural pest control programs.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in agriculture, chemistry, natural resource management, pest control or regulatory enforcement.
• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, agriculture, biological, chemical, environmental science or engineering.
• Regulatory compliance knowledge and ability to interpret laws and rules.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and compile data from inspections into technical reports using regulatory criteria.
• Ensure consumer products meet quality standards through sampling and testing.
• Issue stop orders on unregistered or substandard goods.
• Conduct field inspections of crops, seeds, and seed certification activities.
• Inspect pesticide producers, distributors, dealers or applicators for licensing and record-keeping compliance.
• Inspect structures treated for termite control and discuss standards with pest control operators.
