Job summary

Cayuga County Office for the Aging is seeking an Aging Services Specialist to coordinate programs and services for older adults. The role involves assisting in planning, developing, and implementing service components, and providing information and referral as needed.

You will work under the Director of the Office for the Aging with opportunities to supervise volunteers. Ideal candidates have relevant education and a track record in aging services, strong communication, and the ability to build

Qualifications

• Master’s degree plus 1 year of full-time paid experience in the specified fields.
• Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of full-time paid experience in the specified fields.
• An equivalent combination of training and experience as indicated above.

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning, development and coordination of aging programs and services.
• Assists in implementation and operation of a specific service component or performs tasks in support of aging programs.
• Provides technical assistance to municipal and community agencies concerned with aging programs.
• Works directly with older persons or delegates to identify useful agencies and individuals.
• Develops and participates in liaison activities with private, public and voluntary aging agencies.
• Attends meetings and informs groups about aging issues and Office for the Aging roles.
• Supervises activities of assigned staff and volunteers.
• Interprets state and federal policies and helps formulate office procedures.
• Maintains detailed program records and completes reports as requested.
• Performs Information and Referral functions and maintains current listings of services.
• Develops computer applications to meet agency needs; studies and evaluates aging programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.
