Job summary

Centre County Government is seeking a 911 Dispatcher Trainee in Public Safety Telecommunication to assess client needs, coordinate services within the county, and provide essential information and referrals to older adults. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in social sciences and 1–2 years in related fields, with willingness to travel.

Office hours are 8:30 AM–5 PM, Monday–Friday, with weekend/on-call requirements as needed. Valid PA driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 1-2 years' experience in field of assessment and care management, social work, home health agency, or related work.
• Internship in a social service agency acceptable OR six months experience as an Aging Care Manager.

Responsibilities

• Assess clients’ overall situation, including abilities, disabilities and needed resources.
• Make referrals to appropriate community resources.
• Coordinate needed services for clients and interact with County and outside agencies as needed.
• Interpret the program, policies and procedures to individuals, groups, and agencies.
• Participate in 24-hour on-call system for weekends, holidays, and evenings, as required.
• Formulate, present, and implement agency presentations and workshops.
• Provide information and referral services for persons 60 years and older.
• Take reports of abuse and investigate those reports under the Older Adult Protective Services Law, for persons 60 years and older. Testify in court as needed.
• Act as client advocate in all matters.
• Operate computer and other office equipment as necessary.
• Travel as necessary to meet and/or assist clients and obtain or arrange needed services.
• Prepare social studies, case histories, writes letters, makes reports, and maintains records.
• Coordinate assigned special programs; train and supervise any volunteers as necessary.
• Must be able to travel to various locations in the County which may not be accessible by public transportation.

Minimum Training and Experience

Bachelor's degree in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology OR other related social sciences. One to two (1-2) years' experience in field of assessment and care management, social work, home health agency, or related work required. Internship in a social service agency is acceptable OR six (6) months experience as an Aging Care Manager 1. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and a willingness to travel as needed.
