Zekiah in Virginia seeks an enthusiastic Scrum Tester to join our cross-functional product development team for DoD programs. You will champion test automation, drive exploratory testing, and help the team deliver high‑value software increments.

Our customers’ framework evolves, rewarding learning and technology adoption. Participate in Scrum ceremonies, refine backlogs, and mentor teammates on unit test strategies and quality practices.

Qualifications

• BS in a STEM discipline.
• Experience: 0-2+ years of software testing within an Agile/Scrum team.
• Proficiency in automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or JUnit, API testing, and SQL.
• Agile mindset with strong communication, adaptability, and proactive defect prevention.
• Experience collaborating with developers in a shared-responsibility quality model.

Responsibilities

• Backlog Refinement & Planning: analyze user stories, identify edge cases, define testable acceptance criteria.
• Continuous Testing: execute manual and automated functional, regression, and integration tests throughout the sprint.
• Test Automation: identify repetitive tests to automate and maintain test suites within CI/CD.
• Exploratory Testing: conduct structured sessions to uncover UI/UX defects.
• Defect Management: log, track, and retest bugs with developers for fast feedback.
• Ceremony Participation: join Scrum ceremonies to advocate for quality.
• Quality Coaching: promote whole-team quality and assist with DoD definitions.

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Scrum Tester to join our cross‑functional product development team. Our team provides IT services for systems engineering and information management systems to multiple major DoD programs. Each team member has opportunities to take on responsibilities according to their experience level and professional growth goals. Our staff mentors one another in their areas of expertise, continuously enhancing the synergistic capabilities of the team.

This position supports an established contract for developing mission‑critical operations. In this role, you will champion test automation, drive exploratory testing, and help the team deliver high‑value software increments. Our customers’ framework continues to evolve. Evaluating, learning, and integrating new technologies will be a constant factor in this position.

The responsibilities of this role include:

• Backlog Refinement & Planning: Participate in refinement sessions to analyze user stories, identify edge cases, and define clear, testable acceptance criteria.
• Continuous Testing: Execute manual and automated functional, regression, and integration tests continuously as code is built throughout the sprint.
• Test Automation: Identify repetitive and critical test scenarios to automate, maintain automated test suites, and integrate testing into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Exploratory Testing: Conduct structured exploratory testing sessions to uncover subtle UI, UX, and functional defects that scripted tests miss.
• Defect Management: Log, track, and re‑test bugs collaboratively with developers to ensure fast feedback loops and quick resolutions.
• Ceremony Participation: Actively join Scrum ceremonies—including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand‑ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives to advocate for quality.
• Quality Coaching: Promote a "whole-team quality" approach by assisting developers with unit test strategy, pair testing, and defining the Definition of Done (DoD).

Requirements

• BS in a STEM discipline
• Experience: 0‑2+ years of software testing experience embedded within an Agile/Scrum team.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in writing and maintaining automated test scripts (using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or JUnit), API testing, and SQL.
• Agile Mindset: Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a proactive attitude toward preventing defects rather than just finding them late.
• Collaboration: Experience working closely with developers in a shared‑responsibility quality mode

Clearance Requirements

This position requires an active Interim Secret clearance. To be considered for this position, an applicant must be a U.S. Citizen and hold an active Interim Secret security clearance (or higher)

Potential for Telework: Partial, 1 day every two weeks
